Our times stands testimony, to the fact that private initiatives, innovation and entrepreneurship are the historical drivers of development of societies, not only in developed countries but also in planned economies as well. However, informed choices for development interventions for public initiatives have also a key role in market based growth or the lack of it. The advent of Incubation as an inherent public private partnership, to support individuals with innovative entrepreneurial spirit with required skills and support mechanisms has been heralded as a great boon by many. Since these innovative entrepreneurs create the most productive and remunerative relationships between members of the community bringing in more inclusiveness and social cohesion and also constantly renovate the production systems by migrating to more productive technologies and innovation, they stand out in a unique strategic space for societal development. Promoting new jobs, taxes, investments and innovation generate a huge development dividend that flows from incubation for the society. Incubators propagate multitude of benefits throughout the society in economic, social, knowledge and even in cultural spheres. There is no other development equivalent for incubation, considering the diversity of its impact on several development pathways and its sustainable developmental effects. Therefore, it is no doubt that the former Chinese Premier, Jiang Zhammen, heralded Business Incubation as the ‘greatest innovation of 21st century industrialization’. |
