First ISBA Awards

FIRST ISBA INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARDS 2009

For the first time the Indian Association of Business Incubators (ISBA) decided to invite nominations from the start-up and graduate of Member Incubators. It was felt that this was of profound importance, as people of the country and the world should be made aware of the level of innovation and enterprise that Indian Incubators have been able to facilitate as successful ventures of young knowledge based entrepreneurs in the country. This is expected to act as a motivator of Innovation and Entrepreneurship among the youth of this country. The ISBA awards platform was jointly sponsored by International Finance Corporation, Chennai (IFC) and Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi which has been duly recognized in various components of the convention.

For this, a five member committee was been constituted by ISBA with the CEO’s of renowned incubators such as KIIT Univerisity, Bhubaneshwar, ICICI Knowledge Park, Hyderabad, TREC-STEP, Trichy, Technopark, Trivandrum and STP, University of Pune.

This Awards Committee received 67 applications from start – ups and graduates from across Indian Incubators in areas such as ICT, Life Sciences, New Materials, Manufacturing and Clean and Green Technology. The committee then constituted a colloquium of leading experts from Business, Venture capital and Academicians as Juries for selecting the awardees.

The jury unanimously gave the recommendations for the Eleven awards in various domains noted above, from Indian Incubators across the country.
